VERDICT AND SENTENCING ORDERS
Acquittals are entered as to counts 3, conspiracy to commit official misconduct, and
count 5, aiding and abetting official misconduct. Conviction is entered as to count 4,
criminal fraud class II. I fully accept that this is a political offence – one of fraud and
misconduct in office at that. Mr. Talan defrauded not only a person or an official – he
defrauded the State of Ridgeway and its institution meant to be representative of its
constituents. Therefore, the sentence will seek to deter conduct similar to that of Mr.
Talan.
The sentence will be a term of imprisonment for 10 minutes and a fine of $1000.00.
Mr. Talan is disqualified from public office, elected office, or an office of trust in and
within the State of Ridgeway for a period of 4 months, until June 7, 2024. Mr. Talan
will be eligible for expungement of this conviction in 6 months, on August 7, 2024.
