GRAND JURY INDICTMENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF RIDGEWAY:
The GRAND JURY, for the County of Ridgeway, State of Ridgeway, duly selected, empanelled, sworn, charged,
and organized as such at the OCTOBER Term, AD, 2022, of the Ridgeway Superior Court, upon their oaths
present in and to said Court at said term that BATTALIONGAVIN, hereinafter styled Defendant, be hereby
charged as follows.
COUNT 1
VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER
R. C. C. § 3.07 / FELONY
On or about the date of November 3rd, 2022, the Defendant was on-duty at the Small Bridge in
Palmer as a Lieutenant for the Ridgeway County Sheriff’s Office, presumably while deployed as
an operative of the Special Response Team. While at the Small Bridge, PirateHookTail was a
passenger in a vehicle. He got out of the vehicle and walked along the bridge when the
Defendant suddenly began opening fire at him in the heat of passion, ultimately resulting in his
death.
COUNT 2
INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER
R. C. C. § 3.06 / MISDEMEANOR
On or about the date of November 3rd, 2022, the Defendant was on-duty at the Small Bridge in
Palmer as a Lieutenant for the Ridgeway County Sheriff’s Office, presumably while deployed as
an operative of the Special Response Team. While at the Small Bridge, PirateHookTail was a
passenger in a vehicle. He got out of the vehicle and walked along the bridge when the
Defendant suddenly began opening fire at him, disregarding a known and obvious risk, and
caused the death of PirateHookTail.
COUNT THREE
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
R. C. C. § 3.05b / FELONY
On or about the date of November 3rd, 2022, the Defendant was on-duty at the Small Bridge in
Palmer as a Lieutenant for the Ridgeway County Sheriff’s Office, presumably while deployed as
an operative of the Special Response Team. While at the Small Bridge, PirateHookTail was a
passenger in a vehicle. He got out of the vehicle and walked along the bridge when the
Defendant intentionally began opening fire at him, causing serious bodily injury using a deadly
weapon.
COUNT FOUR
OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT
R. C. C. § 6.06 / MISDEMEANOR
On or about the date of November 3rd, 2022, the Defendant, without lawful justification, shot
and killed PirateHookTail at the Small Bridge in Palmer. The defendant committed this act in
relation to his office, knowing that it was unauthorized.
AGAINST THE PEACE AND DIGNITY OF THE STATE.
